Now that summer is around the corner treat your skin to some lunch. A spinach salad is light and refreshing when the temperature is hot plus it has an extra advantage; it’s like the fountain of youth for your skin.
These leafy greens are high in nutrients yet low in calories, so it does your body good while giving your skin an extra boost at the same time. In fact spinach has vitamins C, E, A, K and B all of which help keep that radiant glow we all seek. “CEAK to B” healthy, one might say.
Spinach is also a good source of minerals selenium, copper and zinc in addition to essential omega 3 fatty acids and flavonoids, which are at the ready to protect the skin from free radicals.
With spinach being low in calories you can treat your skin to this tasty delight as often as you’d like. Mix with sesame seeds, a hard-boiled egg and sliced almonds for added protein, colorful orange pepper, your favorite dressing and sprinkle with cheese. Any variation will do.
Almonds have been called seeds and more popularly nuts. Technically an almond is the nut of a drupe. A kin to the peach, the fleshy fruit of the almond is not edible, but the nut is de-lish. Packed with protein, vitamins and minerals almonds are a healthy snack alternative.
True many calories in almonds are from fat, but the good monounsaturated fat. That’s heart-healthy, so nibble away, almonds burn slow in your system, which helps you to feel full longer.
Almonds have a bonus round. They’re high in fiber and that does your digestive system good.
